SCOPE

In the year 2006, the International Symposium on Metastable and Nano Materials (ISMANAM) will be held in Warsaw, Poland, on 27th - 31st August.

The pioneer ISMANAM was held in Grenoble in 1994, then followed by the meetings in Quebec ('95), Rome ('96), Sitges ('97), Wollongong ('98), Dresden ('99), Oxford (2000), Ann Arbor ('01), Seoul ('02), Foz do Iguaçu ('03), Sendai ('04) and Paris ('05). Over these years, its scope has been significantly widened, leading to the change of the title of the Symposium to the present one. The materials covered in the Symposium include, but are not limited to, amorphous, nanocrystalline, quasicrystalline and metastable crystalline ones. The scope of the Symposium encompasses metals, ceramics, intermetallics, polymers and composites. Also the form spans from nanosized paricles, through thin films, powders to bulk elements, including composites and nanocomposites. Various aspects of the materials science will be discussed: modelling, manufacturing, characterisation of structure and properties, performance and applications.

The programme of the Symposium will comprise invited lectures from the distinguished scientists, oral presentations and poster presentations, and of course some time for discussions over a cup of coffee. Researchers in the fields of materials science, physics, chemistry and engineering are encouraged to contribute to the Symposium.

The Symposium language will be English.
